IT'S ALL ABOUT THE THEME
Toluni was founded by Tai Ogunyemi in 2013 as a hobby while making totes as gifts. It gradually became so much more after she posted her creations on Etsy. It grew quickly as she fleshed out her customer's ideas into appliqués on totes. Then pattern became apparent- "It's all about the theme" The enthusiasm from her customers and children to carry their books, toys etc. in their "themed" totes encouraged her to create more kid friendly totes which led to birthday shirts.
Toluni is a brand that celebrates children's themes which changes as they grow. All our tote appliqués are designed and sewn in locally by our small family team in Georgia. We've designed them with high quality material that's durable and sure to outlast their season. While we specialize in children's accesories, we also offer adult totes in playful motifs.
ABOUT THE MAKER
Tai likes to call herself the universal designer. Having attended three different schools of architecture on three different continents, she sees design in everything. She graduated with a BA in science in Nigeria and Masters in Architecture in the UK. After 10 years working in her field of architecture, she made the hard decision to stay home after the birth of her first son.
She's a wife and mother of three boys and a girl. An avid gardener and runner with dreams of completing all the major marathons.
Her passion is to make by hand, layer textures and pattern to achieve richness in any design. To her it's such joy and a privilege to make simple things for little people.
